For all of you Margeson Pub Quiz fans, we're taking a hiatus from the normal Monday quiz night due to the Chicago Blackhawks - Boston Bruins Stanley Cup playoff game... GO HAWKS!  If there isn't a game 6, the quiz will resume next week at its normal time.  Remember that the Pub Quiz is usually held in The Annex every Monday night at 7:30 PM.

A completely revised menu has made it through it's "soft opening" phase and is now fully in effect!  This applies to both the Pub and The Annex, as we have combined and consolidated the separate entities so that we could give you the best of both worlds in one easy-to-understand menu.  Check it out on the MENU Page, and take special note of our great new Lucky $7 Lunch Specials, great deals that will appeal to your tummy and your wallet from 11 AM - 3 PM every day!

This Friday (June 7th) starting at 6:00 PM is the American Cancer Society's Barrington Area Relay For Life, which helps raise money to support research, education and patient services in celebration of cancer survivorship in Illinois. The 10th season for the Barrington Cruise Nights starts tonight and are happening every Thursday throughout the summer right outside our doors, starting at approximately 6:30 PM.  Once again the Pub is a major sponsor and The Annex is also included this year too.  We will be the food vendor on June 27, July 25, August 15 & August 22 but will have a presence every Thursday, offering coupons and other giveaways. Tickets for the 10th Annual Barrington Brewfest (Saturday July 13th) are now on sale at the Pub!  We are the only place where you can pick up the official Brewfest t-shirts in advance too - shirts will be in stock on or before June 8th but buying a ticket here assures you of getting one when they are available.  Tickets are $40 in advance and special "VIP" and "Designated Driver" ones will also be available.  Cash or Check (made out to BACOA) only; if you'd rather pay by credit card you can purchase your tickets online.

On behalf of the entire staff at McGonigal's Pub and The Annex, prayers and condolences go out to the victims and residents of Oklahoma who were affected by the horrifying tornadoes the past couple days.  Unfortunately Mother Nature isn't always very nice.

Our outdoor patio area is OPEN, actually it has been for the past several days. It's bistro style seating along the sidewalks of Cook Street and Park Avenue, and a great place to enjoy the nice weather with a cool beverage and delicious lunch, dinner or snack!

We have some important employee news to report.  First, the good news: The Pub and The Annex are happy to welcome Lisa Lesniak to our team.  Lisa has been a respected employee in the bar/restaurant business in Barrington for quite a while as well as being a long-t`ime resident of the Village... we are definitely excited to have her on board!  The sad news is that one of our original employees and star bartender/manager Declan Walsh has taken another job opportunity closer to his home.  Declan has been a true part of the Pub family and an integral part of our success since we opened.  He will be greatly missed and we wish him all the best.  Sláinte, my friend!

It's time to scream "LET'S GO BLACKHAWKS" as they begin their quest towards the Stanley Cup today!  We will show every game, both at the Pub and The Annex, and of course there are great daily specials for you to enjoy for each game.  Also, keep in mind we have our notorious Blackhawks Wings, which are sweet and hot like the team, but with an strong emphasis on HOT!  Delicious but definitely not for the timid... GO HAWKS!

We're in the process of finalizing some fantastic menu additions and changes for both the Pub and The Annex, including a special ALL NEW lunch menu!  Many of the ideas have come from our customers, and we are sure you'll be pleased with the offerings.  May 1st is the target date; info will be here and of course fully updated on the Menu page.

This is sad news indeed... Ed Dewitz, a 91 year old WWII veteran. lifetime resident of Barrington and a very good friend of many of us at the Pub, passed away today.  There are so many great stories to tell about him, but suffice to say he was an amazing man and will be greatly missed.

SUCCESS!  It was a great Barrington Celtic Fest weekend, and we'll be posting a recap and some pictures very soon.

This is our first website update since early Friday so this news is sort of late... on behalf of the entire staff at the Pub I'd like to express our condolences to the 11 year old boy who was hit by a Metra train earlier this weekend.  The latest news is that he is in good condition, here's a link with updates.

Happy St. Patrick's Day, a couple days early!  This will be the last update on the website until early next week.  For real-time activities throughout the Barrington Celtic Fest weekend, check out the  Celtic Fest Facebook page.  Of course full details on all the entire festival are available on the events page on this site.

On a more personal note, today is the seven year anniversary of the passing of the owner's mother, Mary McGonigal, who despite a courageous two-year battle succumbed to ovarian cancer at age 62.  This is one of the driving reasons why we proudly support the American Cancer Society by donating portion of proceeds from the festival to this cause.

Our three year anniversary was this past Saturday and we thank all of our patrons and supporters who came out to enjoy the day (and the $3 Guinness).  Now we're moving full-speed-ahead to this weekend's Barrington Celtic Fest, which is Friday March 15 - Sunday March 17.
